          Welcome and thank you for visiting the Art of Marcel Salinas.  

         As trustee of the Marcel C. Salinas Trust, it is my pleasure to introduce you to the work of this well respected artist, especially at a time when both the Metropolitan Museum of Art (The Met) in NY and the Tate Modern in London have included his work in their 2021 - 2022 exhibition “Surrealism Beyond Borders”. More traveling museum shows are being planned both here and abroad.

     Marcel's paintings reflect his early childhood in Egypt. Born of European parents in Alexandria Egypt, his formative years were spent there and had a life-long effect on his incomparable ability to show light and depict a scene in a way few have been able to accomplish.

         Some of the works on this site are dated from the 1930s and show that even as a young artist, he had the ability to bring a scene to life with both reality and imagination.  The place may be real but the artist’s view of the scene is entirely Marcel.

     He is greatly regarded for his work in fine art lithography, where he is considered a master of that technique but his creative passion and skill are  highly demonstrated through his paintings. I have described each painting on the site to help bring a fuller understanding of the artist and his perspective.

        An artist painting primarily in the figurative mode, he worked in a variety of styles; classical, cubism, fauvism surrealism, abstract and realism from the 1930s until his passing in 2010.

       I am privileged to have known him and worked with Marcel for twenty five years both in Europe and in the US and am pleased to have curated this collection.  

​

        My purpose in telling you about Marcel is to place him in the world in which he lived and worked and how his eclectic styles and artworks continue to influence emerging artists and appeal to collectors in today’s art world.

​      

        The Trust will continue to bring additional exciting and beautiful works from our vaults for your enjoyment and collecting pleasure.
